In support of the charity for the second year running, Betfred have donated £30,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support following the Betfred World Matchplay at Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

We pledged to give £50 for every 180 hit during both the Men’s and Women’s tournament – plus £1 per point in our Nine-Dart Charity Challenge.

The total number of 180s hit across both competitions was 324, with eventual Betfred World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall leading the way on 44.

The Nine-Dart Charity Challenge, which was not only taken on by participating players such as Michael van Gerwen and Fallon Sherrock but also celebrities like former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, added £9,793 to the total pot which was increased to £30,000 following the final on Sunday night.

Betfred boss Fred Done said:

“Sponsoring these events each year is always a highlight for us at Betfred, but we’re also delighted to be able to support great charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support.

“The players have been fantastic throughout both the World Matchplay and Women’s World Matchplay, both through the quality and entertainment on stage and their support for our charity activity.

“The money raised for Macmillan Cancer Support will be invaluable for such an important charity.”

Betfred World Matchplay champion Aspinall added:

“It’s great that Betfred are making such a large donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

“They’re a wonderful charity who do so much good work, and it’s an honour to have been able to help raise such a brilliant sum of money for them.”
