The Betfred British Masters will return to The Belfry this year – and six-time Major Champion Sir Nick Faldo is the new host.
The DP World Tour – formerly the European Tour – returned to The Belfry after a 13-year absence with the ISPS HANDA UK Championship in 2020, and the Sutton Coldfield venue will continue to be the home of the latter for the next four years until 2026.
Faldo represented Europe in the Ryder Cup on three occasions at The Belfry, famously making a hole-in-one on the 14th in 1993.
The Englishman enjoyed a glittering career, winning the Masters Tournament on three separate occasions and claiming three Claret Jugs for winning the Open Championship – all part of his 30 victories on the European Tour.
“It’s a real honour to be given the opportunity to host the Betfred British Masters, particularly at a venue as iconic as The Belfry,” said Faldo.
“It’s a place that is synonymous with British and European golf, and we’ve been treated to some incredible moments there over the years.
“From a playing perspective, the Brabazon is a great test of golf, and it’s a course that you can have a lot of fun in terms of setting it up – particularly on the par four 10th, where you can bring the tee forward and give guys a chance to go for the green, and on the par four 18th, which is a great closing hole.
“I’m really looking forward to working alongside the DP World Tour and the team at The Belfry to deliver another memorable British Masters. It was great to see spectators come out in their droves to support the tournament last year, and we hope to put on a real show for them in 2023.”
The event has moved to a new summer date of June 29 – July 2.
