Betfred have donated £84,000 to Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity partner of the Betfred British Masters.
We pledged £500 to the men’s health charity for every eagle or better made during the tournament, plus a further £500 for every drive to the green on the Belfry’s 10th hole.
Betfred also promised £50,000 for any hole-in-one at the 14th – the iconic hole that host Sir Nick Faldo recorded an ace at during the 1993 Ryder Cup.
That feat was completed by Matthew Baldwin in the third round, taking the total amount raised to £84,000.
A spokesperson from Prostate Cancer UK said:
“It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement from Matt and we’re really grateful for the donation from Betfred. It’ll make a difference for huge numbers of men across the UK and beyond, so thank you very much.”
Betfred boss Fred Done added:
“It’s not only what we’ve raised, it’s letting people know they should get checked, bringing the awareness of Prostate Cancer.
I’m very pleased with that [£84k donation], but promoting it is as important as giving the money.”
